2014 NFL Wire Troll All-Stars

Unbeknownst to the Cleveland faithful, Carr is the leading rookie passer in almost every positive category. Obviously it’s too early to tell but he appears to be a steal as the fourth QB taken (second round) at least comparatively so. If you nabbed Carr this season, he was probably nothing but bye week material and his future ceiling is very weapons dependent. As for this season he was just a QB2 with upside. Solid performances versus San Diego and San Francisco were the highlights for the promising sliver and black signal caller. Even with a B-Squad of WRs, Carr managed 3,100 yards passing as well as 20 TDs to 14 total turnovers. Rookie numbers have and will be in the future much harsher.

The Wire Troll: The Andrei Vasilevskiy Era Begins

A first round pick of the Lightning in 2012, the 6’3″ 207-pounder was the highest drafted goaltender in the draft at 19th overall. He’s been quite successful — even dominant — at all levels of play he’s competing in so far. That didn’t change when he made the leap across the pond this fall. In 14 appearances with the Syracuse Crunch, “Andrei the Giant” compiled an 8-3-3 record, a 2.34 goals against average, a .918 save percentage and two shutouts. He took his stellar play with him to sunny Florida after being recalled by the Bolts in Week 10, collecting a win, a 1.52 goals against average and a .958 save percentage.

The Wire Troll: Jarrett Jack Turning Things Around

Minnesota has opted to start LaVine recently and the rookie is beginning to post Fantasy-worthy numbers. LaVine has been flirting with double-doubles, and his outside shot is starting to fall, with two treys on three attempts over the past two games combined. How about those three steals on Friday? Okay, so LaVine only dropped three dimes, but he was coming off a team-best eight-assist effort on Tuesday, so if you need a boost in helpers, this kid may be a fine short-term pickup while Rubio heals.

The Wire Troll: Cole Beasley Equals Dokie Williams

After Bortles’ many INTs, those with slightly better options might be cutting ties. Jacksonville is bad but can it truly get any worse? Bortles is not Blaine Gabbert, because he can actually move in the pocket. The future is worth the gamble. Weapons are in place and time is not of the essence. Bortles and the Jags can suffer through another bad season and he can still improve as QB. Nab him now in dynasty formats and save yourself a sock full of quarters later. So you might slam that sock fearlessly against a brick wall. Or, you might not and your patience will reap middle of the pack results.

The Wire Troll: Martin Brodeur Returns

The former sixth overall pick had a very solid week, collecting three goals, five points, a plus-2 rating, one power play point, 13 shots on goal, 17 face-offs won, two hits and one block in Week Nine. He has eight goals, 14 points, a minus-2 rating and 50 shots on goal through 27 games this season. Just beware that this dude is streaky, but when you can get him on a roll, he’s a great addition.

The Wire Troll: Rudy Gobert Getting a Chance

Joseph, who has started three games in the last week, is a must own for Tony Parker owners. Joseph has averaged almost 13 points over his past four games, recording five or more assists three times in that stretch. Parker is old and banged up a little and when he misses a game here or there, Joseph is definitely worth a roster spot.

The Wire Troll: Trying to Look Ahead

One mistake some Fantasy owners make, especially this late in the season, is to pay too much attention to what a player has done recently, and not give as much thought to what he will have the opportunity to do. After Week 12, would you have targeted a defense that had just given up 27 points, had allowed over 30 in six of their other 10 games and had failed to reach double-digit Fantasy points in all but four games? We hope you did, because that St. Louis Rams defense just shut out two straight opponents.
