Roberto Perez showed he can hit for the Cleveland Indians.

The 2019 MLB Wire Troll All-Star Team

Although he was used more in the outfield, Santana qualified as the top first baseman on the wire this season. Likely slated as a super utility player again next year (especially given his ability to play every outfield spot), the Dominican veteran finally showed this season that maybe his rookie BA effort wasn’t a complete fluke, and he hit with more power than ever before.

Matt Magill has taken over as closer for the Seattle Mariners.

The Wire Troll: Matt Magill Emerges as a Fantasy Asset

Sure to be a one of the more important September callups, Kieboom has enjoyed a huge season at Triple-A. Washington’s top prospect struggled to hit in his first taste of the bigs in late-April/early-May, but the Triple-A seasoning he’s received since should stead him well. In 105 games, Kieboom is batting .305 with 16 homers while racking up the runs and ribbies. Consider him a tremendous dynasty option.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have another quality pitcher in Tony Gonsolin.

The Wire Troll: Dodgers Have Another Intriguing Arm in Tony Gonsolin

The Mariners have completely dismantled their bullpen since the start of the season and one of the key moves was trading Strickland to the Nats. Since landing in Washington, he’s been lights out, with eight scoreless outings among his nine appearances. In fact, pretty much the only thing to have gone wrong so far is a weight room snafu that ended with Strickland busting his noggin. He had shown good control in his brief time with the Mariners, and has been virtually unhittable since joining the Nats. Seeking holds? Strickland can help.

Nova is as hot as any hurler right now, recording a 4-0 record and an ERA of 0.49 with a pair of complete games over his last five starts. Why didn’t any contender want him at the deadline? Strange stuff. At any rate, Nova’s gotten better and better as the season has progressed, and he’s been rather durable the past few years. Hell, he’s even shutting down top teams like Houston (two wins, three earned runs allowed in 16 IP). Pick up Nova and see if he keeps this rolling down the stretch.

Daniel Hudson is a good addition for the Washington Nationals.

The Wire Troll: Daniel Hudson Gains Value With Move to Washington

While he didn’t get much of a crack at saves in Toronto, moving to Washington should definitely help him rack up the holds. Hudson’s been quite consistent this season, steady other than a dominant June. He’s done a better job of keeping the ball in the yard, and is enjoying his finest ERA since becoming a reliever. Hudson’s velocity has also bounced back, matching his career best set in 2015.

The Wire Troll: Anthony Banda on the Comeback Trail

Nola went yard on Wednesday, part of a second straight three-hit game, raising his BA to .356. He currently only qualifies at first base in most leagues, but could very well earn qualification at second base, and possibly catcher and third base as well — something that would really hike his value. Nola, a 29-year-old rookie, has looked very productive in his first taste of the bigs and while it’s been a long road for this 2012 fifth round pick to get the majors, he’s making the most of his opportunity. Nola could stick as a super sub and be quite useful if given enough PT.
