Rodney McGruder should see more PT for the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Wire Troll: Rodney McGruder Should See More Minutes

As the fifth overall pick last year, Garland’s rookie season hasn’t exactly been awe inspiring as he’s struggled with his shooting. But he was terrific on Thursday, scoring 14 points (his third straight game of at least 12) while adding a career-best eight dimes. Okay, so he was playing the sieve-like Charlotte defense, but still, the kid is starting to turn the corner and set himself up for a big second half. With Cleveland likely to be sellers at the deadline, Garland has a chance to be a real steal down the stretch, so grab him now.

Chris Boucher should see a nice boost in PT for the Toronto Raptors.

The Wire Troll: Chris Boucher to Throw Block Party

Johnson has been dealing with a hop injury, but returned Friday, although he didn’t see much PT. The rookie hasn’t set the world on fire yet, but he was starting to look much better before he got hurt, scoring 10 or more points in three of his last four games (potting nine in the other one), while chipping in with some decent rebounding numbers and the odd steal. The 11th overall pick in this year’s draft should be poised to make some nice strides in the second half, so consider him now in deeper leagues.

Olli Maatta is healthy again for the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Wire Troll: Olli Maatta Returns Just in Time

After five seasons of declining offensive production with Tampa Bay, Stralman signed as a free agent with the other Florida team last summer. And while he’s been quiet on offense lately, he does have 10 points already, putting him on pace for his highest scoring season since 2015-16. As usual, Stralman is logging heavy minutes, at 21:11 per game, even more than last season. With 41 blocks, 30 hits and 19 takeaways, he’s on pace to top his numbers from last season across the board, making him a nice deep league consideration.

Dwight Powell is showing signs of life for the Dallas Mavericks.

The Wire Troll: Dwight Powell Rising in Dallas

Powell has really been stepping up offensively lately, scoring at least 14 points in four straight games, and shooting extremely well throughout this stretch. He’s being asked to guard top players, and a season after missing several weeks with a shoulder injury, he’s become a bigger part of the team than ever before, responding by getting to the line far more often. Powell may still have a bit of upside to his game.

Jack Studnicka has been recalled by the Boston Bruins.

The Wire Troll: Jack Studnicka Gets His Shot

Connolly enjoyed a breakout effort with the Caps last season, but after signing with the Panthers this season, he’s taking it to the next level. He has five goals and an assist over the last five games, giving him 19 points through 25 games, putting him on pace to flirt with 40 goals this season. Not many expected this dude to be leading the Cats in goals nearly a third of the way through the season, but here we are, so grab Connolly while you can.

Mo Bamba is going to see more action for the Orlando Magic.

The Wire Troll: You Need Mo Bamba

Miami has been one of the early-season pleasant surprises in the NBA, and one of the reasons why has been the play of young players like Robinson. The second-year forward has seen a major boost in minutes recently and he’s responded with four straight games of at least 11 points, including a whopping 29 on Wednesday. Robinson is seeing more than double the PT he did as a rookie, but has more than tripled his scoring output. That’s progress, baby.
