Can the Washington Nationals Rebound Under Matt Williams?

There’s no doubt this team is poised to be a winner for the long haul given its core of young talent, but it will need to beef up the offense to get back to the playoffs in 2014. Remember that they won the NL East in 2012 and had the best record in baseball, so even though this year’s 86-win total was nothing to sneeze at, it was a letdown nonetheless – especially since a too little, too late 18-9 September made their final record look better than how they played most of the season.

This Day in Baseball History: November 13

This proposed league was going to be a third major league in North American behind the National and American Leagues and was originally scheduled to launch in 1961. In August 1960, the dream was dead before it ever began as no games were ever played. However, it was not completely a waste of time, because the Continental League helped expedite expansion of the major leagues.

2013 World Series Recap

My girlfriend – who literally didn’t know a damn thing about baseball before the playoffs began – got swept up in the excitement and demanded a crash course on the game, which I provided. But can you try to imagine how difficult it was to explain some of the madness that occurred to someone that didn’t even have a rudimentary knowledge of the game?
