Video Game Review: Space Hulk: Deathwing Enhanced Edition

Teammate A.I. is terrible during the single-player campaign. In theory, your Librarian is flanked by a couple of certified bad asses, both decked out in heavy armour and even heavier weaponry. In practice, they’re borderline useless. Apparently the burden of firing any direction but straight ahead is too much for them, and they’ll happily wander into your line of fire or stop in an entryway you’re trying to seal just for good measure.

Blu-ray Review: The Strangers: Prey at Night

What really hurts Prey at Night is ridiculous character behaviour. It’s hard to go too deep without spoilers, but here’s one example (and trust us, there are several more). At one point one of the family members is trapped by the blonde female stranger. She has a knife. Rather than do anything and everything to survive, she just submits to her fate. It triggered one of the hardest eye rolls in recorded history.

The Wire Troll: Jordan Lyles Locks Down Rotation Spot

About three weeks ago, Lyles was inserted into the Padre rotation, and the results have been mixed. He was solid in his first start and spectacular in his second before a couple of rough outings. But Lyles rebounded from that on Thursday with a very strong seven innings of work against the Fish to earn another win. When the Padres signed him last year and brought him up late in the season to start, things didn’t go well at all. Undeterred, they’ve given Lyles another chance to start this year and it’s now paying off. His hit rates are much better and he’s never produced an ERA even close to this low. Note that Lyles’s FIP (4.09) suggests there will be some regression, but not dramatically so. Still, after he began the season in the bullpen, the veteran has really brought some stability to the Padre rotation and San Diego has won each of his last four starts. After flaming out in Houston, Lyles was being counted on to be a key cog in the Rockies’ rotation, but injuries and ineffectiveness derailed that, and he was shifted to the pen. It’s great to see him get another crack at starting now, and he seems to be running with it.

Video Game Review: Runner3

Whereas the last game had 95 levels, each with three difficulty settings, Runner3 contains 27 core levels. Yep, 27. Now there’s additional content — each level contains a tougher “gem path” that unlocks when you complete it, and optional “impossible” levels open up when you collect enough gold — but it’s still a pretty significant cut.
