Video Game Review: Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III opens with Sora seeking to regain his lost power of “waking” in an effort to take down the villainous Xehanort, who nearly defeated Sora previously. It’s an arc that most should be able to follow, at least at the big picture level, but it’s fair to say that anyone who hasn’t kept up with the series over the years will spend time scratching their heads.

Blu-ray Review: Bohemian Rhapsody

Unsurprisingly, Malek’s performance is the best thing about the film, hands down. The way he looks and carries himself just exudes stardom, and he owns every scene he’s in — and he’s in just about all of them. We haven’t seen all of the other nominees, but Malek would be a worthy winner, and this is sure to be a launching point for his career in films.

The Wire Troll: Monte Morris Making His Move

After getting dealt from Miami to Phoenix and then waived, Ellington became one of the top players available on the buyout market and is reportedly very close to signing with Detroit. Less than two weeks ago, he exploded for 19 points — all in the second half — in a win over the Knicks, proving he can still ball when given minutes. Despite limited PT, Ellington sunk more buckets last month, but overall, he’s played just 25 games after falling out of the rotation with a crowded backcourt in Miami and racking up the DNP-CDs. He’ll have a chance to redeem himself with the Pistons.

Blu-ray Review: Overlord

Beyond the performances, Overlord does an effective job of building suspense in the early going and then transitioning to some good action set pieces later on. The film is judicious with its green screen usage, keeping everything feeling gritty and real. Plus, when the time does come for CGI it’s really well done.

Video Game Review: Life is Strange 2, Episode 2

As Daniel comes to grips with having powers, Sean is burdened with being the role of a guardian. He must teach Daniel right from wrong, which is difficult given the many gray areas they face in the name of survival. At the same time, Daniel has extraordinary powers that can project his emotions outward — for rescue, for vengeance, or for other extreme emotions.
