Interview: Bernie Nicholls

March 20, 2018 | by RotoRob | Comments Comments Off on Interview: Bernie Nicholls
Bernie Nicholls had a nice playoff run with the New Jersey Devils in 1993-94.
Bernie Nicholls (centre) scored twice in Game Five of the 1993-94 Eastern Conference Final.

We recently had the opportunity to talk to former NHL star Bernie Nicholls, who scored 1,209 points in 1,127 career games over 17 seasons with six different teams, mostly with the Los Angeles Kings.

Nicholls recently got involved with The Global Finance Sports Financial Exchange, a stock market powered by blockchain technology that, instead of selling shares in companies, allows investors the opportunity to buy “shares” of professional sports teams. Stock prices fluctuate based on wins/losses, draft picks and trades.

The company is headed by actor Zack Ward of A Christmas Story fame.

Nicholls told us all about the business and shared with us plenty of juicy details about his playing career. Among the highlights of our discussion:

  • How investors can use their sports knowledge to make money in this stock market;
  • Nicholls says you’ll get just as much excitement using their platform as you will gambling on games or playing Fantasy sports;
  • What was different during his historic 70-goal, 150-point season;
  • How many talented players he was fortunate enough to play with over his career, including the criminally underrated Scott Niedermayer;
  • His pet peeves in today’s game such as the little elbows to the head or cheap shots from behind; and
  • His picks for this season’s Stanley Cup champ, including his sleeper pick — the Kings.

Now it’s your turn. Let us know in the comments below what your favourite memory of Bernie Nicholls’ career was.

Interview: Shawne Merriman

June 8, 2017 | by RotoRob | Comments Comments Off on Interview: Shawne Merriman
We recently sat down for a chat with Shawne Merriman, former San Diego Charger great, three-time Pro Bowler and an All-Pro linebacker. “Lights Out,” as he was dubbed, has done quite well for himself after football, creating his own clothing line, recently becoming the owner of a NASCAR vehicle and even toying with the idea of becoming a professional Bellator MMA fighter.

Interview: Mike Brown: From Linebacker to Lines of Code

November 4, 2016 | by RotoRob | Comments Comments Off on Interview: Mike Brown: From Linebacker to Lines of Code
After earning All-American honours as the ACC’s leading tackler as a senior, this linebacker went undrafted in 2009. The Indianapolis Colts penned Brown (who changed his last name to Tauiliili in college, but goes by Brown in his post-playing professional career) to a two-deal, but he never made it off the practice squad and was ultimately cut in early-September 2009.

Kids Learn Fundamentals at All-Star Basketball Camp

September 1, 2014 | by Billy Squicciarino | Comments (1)
This was a great experience for us, as we got to witness firsthand how much kids love the game of basketball. In addition to supplying special T-shirts for all participants, Warren Henry Auto sponsored 10 underprivileged children from We Have a Dream Foundation and the Curley’s House Food Bank so they could attend the camp.
