Cano gets paid way more than any other second baseman, but now that he plays half his games at Safeco, he does not stand head and shoulders above everyone else at the position. Don’t get us wrong — you’ll still get fantastic production from this dude; we’re just saying there are now other options.

Despite the recent proliferation of holds leagues — a move we applaud and hope gains more traction — saves continue to rule the roost when it comes to relievers. After all, there’s only so many saves to go around, so you kind of have to grab them while you can. But beware chasing them on draft day. Recent history has shown us that the dude earning saves on April 1 is often not the same man come June 1 or even May 1.

Graveman went from Low-A to the big league roster in one year and his minor league numbers didn’t skip a beat as he moved to the higher levels. In 167 1/3 IP he allowed 142 hits and 31 walks while striking out 115 in posting an outstanding 1.83 ERA. He will definitely be a part of the A’s pitching plan this season.
