The Wire Troll: Sam Bennett Feeds Flames

By allowing fans to decide the All-Star roster, this is the bed the league made for itself. In MLB, NFL and, we’re assuming, the NBA, the status of “All-Star” means something. It speaks to the incredible talent and accomplishments of the person receiving the honour. In the NHL, the toughest and most complex of the four major sports leagues, it has become nothing more than a joke, and is losing fan interest rapidly.

The Wire Troll: Shane Doan Leading the Pack in Arizona

Doan isn’t the only one breaking out (no, that’s not an acne reference given the club’s youth) recently in the desert. Stone had a career week with a goal, four points, four penalty minutes, seven shots on goal, 10 hits and 13 blocked shots. He has three goals, 16 points, a minus-6 rating and 30 penalty minutes this season.

The Wire Troll: Tyler Bozak Paces Leafs

When we last left Bozak, he was on pace for a career season with three goals, 12 points and a minus-2 rating in 17 games. Now with 29 under his belt, he’s got eight goals, 23 points and a plus-3 rating to go with eight penalty minutes and 49 shots on goal. That’s right — in a full 82-game season, Bozak is on pace for 65 points! Will he get there? No. But he sure is fun to watch right now, and it’s time for Fantasy GMs to jump on board before it’s too late.

The Wire Troll: Frank Vatrano Impresses in Boston

Grabner barely registered a blip on the Fantasy radar this season until last week, collecting three goals, five points, a plus-4 rating, seven shots on goal, three hits and a block in three games with the Leafs. It’s pretty impressive, still, he has just four goals, eight points, a plus-6 rating, four penalty minutes and 36 shots on goal in 29 games played this season.

The Wire Troll: Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes Hit Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pens were 4-3-3 in their past 10 at the time of the coaching change, dropping a point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday. The move is rather an intriguing one, considering Pittsburgh was on the losing end of a tie with the Boston Bruins for the last wild card spot in the East, and just seven points behind the Metropolitan-leading Washington Capitals at the time.

The Wire Troll: Sam Reinhart Tips the Sabres’ Sword

“Coots” is one of the league’s hottest players over the last week, scoring two goals and four points with a plus-5 rating, two penalty minutes, eight shots on goal, a hit and four blocked shots. Philly is 6-2-2 in its past 10 games, but still three points out of a playoff spot in the East if the postseason started today. Still, even if the team continues to inexplicably struggle to beat crap teams in its own building, Flyers fans, players and coaching staff now have something to feel good about, and Fantasy GMs should, too.
