Podcast: State of the Game

August 16, 2010 | By Tim McLeod | comment on this post
Mike Moustakas is tearing up Triple-A in the Kansas City Royals system.
is Mike Moustakas finally going to get a crack at the Show next month?

Sunday evening, I joined Rich Wilson and Lenny Melnick for our weekly look at the happenings around MLB on the FantasyPros911 show on Blogtalkradio.

We got things rolling with a lengthy discussion on the state of Fantasy baseball and some of the potential changes we could see moving forward. Are holds a viable category in our game and is OBP a viable alternative to the traditional BA?

Moving forward, we touched on some of the potential September callups. Are Mike Moustakas, Tyler Flowers, Aroldis Chapman, Jesus Montero and Desmond Jennings going to get the call? And, if so, what potential value could they have in September? What would a discussion on callups be without at least one import in the mix? Washington pitching prospect Yunesky Maya was my choice for this week. By the way, the Nationals have some fine looking talent heading into 2011 and their pitching could definitely surprise.

The weekly closer discussion was next on the agenda, and we looked at the closer conundrums with the Dodgers, White Sox and Astros. Fantasy owners that were counting on Jonathan Broxton for his usual stellar numbers sure haven’t been happy with his second half of 2010.

Next up, we looked at two-start pitchers for the week, with our focus being on Jon Garland, Mike Minor, Daniel Hudson and Chris Volstad. Would you start Minor against the Nationals and Cubbies this week?

As always, it was a fun and very entertaining time and you can listen to the entire show by clicking the play button below.
