Dear RotoRob: I Made a Mistake

Okay, I’m in a 16-team H2H league with the standard nine categories and nine players per team.
I made a mistake by dropping David Lee for Nazr Mohammed. Now, i’ve dropped Nazr for Hakim Warrick. Good move? Should I pickup Al Thornton instead? What should I expenct from the two?

It seems like you are grasping at straws to get the next waiver wire miracle. I think right now Thornton is hotter than Warrick, but that will change when Elton Brand comes back. I am not a Warrick fan as he was a nobody until the last two games.

I’m hanging on to first in my 10-team, 11-category (add TOs and technical fouls to usual nine) Roto league, but everyone is gaining on me. Mostly I have big lead in assists and blocks and am in good shape in other cats, but even ones I’m doing well in are still very competitive (rebounds, offensive rebounds and steals) and places where I’m bad (the percentage caterories, TOs, TECHs), I am just hoping to hang on to my current spot. Here’s my current roster and I have two questions – we start 10 and bench three:
PG – Maurice Williams
SG – Michael Redd
G – Deron Williams
SF – LeBron James
PF – Rasheed Wallace
F – Mehmet Okur
C – Yao Ming
C – Chris Kaman
UTIL – Brad Miller
UTIL – Kirk Hinrich
Bench:
John Salmons (hoping Ron Artest gets traded)
Kevin Durant (plays good matchups)
Andres Nocioni (while Luol Deng down)
Would you drop any of these guys to pick up Ryan Gomes, Wally Szczerbiak, Nate Robinson, Juan Carlos Navarro, Travis Outlaw, Beno Udrih, Warrick, Kurt Thomas, Matt Barnes, Jamairo Moon, Jannero Pargo, Kyle Korver, Thaddeus Young, Vladimir Radmanovic, Sasha Vujacic, Jameer Nelson, Charlie Villanueva, Rashad McCants, Andray Blatche or Tayshaun Prince?
Also, I have an offer on the table to get Caron Butler and Nick Collison for Kaman and Hinrich – would you do that? I’ve been after Caron for a long time without success and now his owner seems willing to part with him. I was trying for a Caron for Kaman straight up deal, but that was rejected. However, this seems like too much to give up given Caron’s injury issues, Gilbert Arena’s possible return and the fact that I think Hinrich may have big second half.
But what about Brand coming back? Or, what about moving Mo-Will and Kaman?

Doug,
1) If you are in first place, don’t start dropping people for FAs unless there is a reason to do so. They got you there, so keep doing your thing.
2) Because you are a little deeper at C, I might take a look at the deal: Caron Butler + Nick Collison = 130.5 in my ranking system, while Hinrich + Kaman = 72.5. I’d keep Kaman and Hinrich since when Arenas gets back Butler is going to take a big hit in his value.
