Fantasy Notes: Rising Ray
- Has anybody out there other than this NPB hawk noticed that Aki Iwamura is now entrenching himself in the lead-off slot down in Tampa? A power guy in Japan, Iwamura is certainly showing his versatility and I would highly recommend him for those of you looking for runs scored, a decent BA and some bonus steals out of a traditionally weak SB position.
- Is it just me or is Brad Hennessey living on the edge in the closer role out in San Francisco? If you’re looking for cheap saves in the second half, it’s certainly worth keeping ones’ eyes open here. Could former Jay Vinnie Chulk be an option here?
- With Joe Crede taking the rest option rather than surgery for his back this past offseason, a door has been opened for Josh Fields. With Crede potentially lost for the duration of the year, Fields looks like a viable option in AL-only leagues at this time. A line of 10 HR, 37 RBI, eight SBs with a .283 BA at Charlotte could translate into a nice waiver bargain for those looking for help at 3B.
- Now that Salomon Torres has hit the DL, those that had faith in Matt Capps look like they’re going to be rewarded for that patience.
