While marketed as a goofball comedy, Life of the Party features a surprisingly well-rounded performance from McCarthy, who is presented as smart, capable and desirable — and in an unusual “older woman, younger man” way where the relationship isn’t a setup for forbidden love or as a means to make the daughter embarrassed.

Another reliever that’s getting a chance to start is Gomber, who looked very sharp in a spot start against the Reds a couple of weeks ago. He’ll take the bump again on Saturday in Pittsburgh, and we think he might make for a sneaky DFS value play. The rookie, taken in the fourth round in 2014, has enjoyed superb hit rates with a solid ERA while going undefeated to date. Gomber has a great pitcher’s build (6’5″, 205), which (other than a minor woe last year) has allowed him to stay durable so far in his pro career.

Union is the best part of the film, and she does enough within its limited scope to show that she deserves to work more often and in larger roles (if she so desires). She comes across as strong and capable while never losing the maternal edge that all she wants out of this scenario is to get her kids home safely.

He’s hit safely in nine straight, recording multiple hits in every single one of those games to raise his BA from .226 to .308. Few players are hotter than Gurriel right now, so consider him in all formats.
