Video Game Review: NieR: Automata — Become As Gods Edition

Hundreds of years have passed since the end of the original NieR, and Automata finds humans forced to inhabit the moon after aliens attacked Earth. To fight back, mankind has created androids known as the YoRHa to augment the remaining androids on Earth in their efforts to destroy the machines. It’s into this reality that YoRHa units 2B (that’s you) and 9S are sent.

Blu-ray Review: Rampage

It’s hard to say if Rampage would work even half as well as it does without The Rock, who does a good job of not taking things too seriously. As usual his comedic timing is very good playing off other characters and the CGI gorilla. He has a fairly absurd back story, but what other combo could provide us with a guy that has a primate for a best friend and can also kick all kinds of ass when it comes down to it.

Blu-ray Review: A Quiet Place

By leaving so much unsaid and unexplained, it allows the audience to fill in the gaps (at least for the time being) and speculate on little nuggets here and there. The origins of the creatures is certainly at the top of the list, and the creature design crew deserves some props. There’s initially a “less is more” approach to showing it, but even when we do see it more clearly it maintains a real creepiness.

Video Game Review: Vampyr

Set in a sickness-ridden London in the aftermath of World War I, Vampyr casts you as Dr. Reid, who earned a reputation during WWI for his work (conveniently enough) with blood transfusions. He awakes in a grave, reborn as a vampire, and immediately kills his sister in a fit of blood lust. In the aftermath of that incident, Reid vows to track down the one that turned him and make them answer for it.
