The Wire Troll: Mitch Moreland Providing Punch for BoSox

In four starts, the southpaw is 2-1 with a 2.19 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP. On Friday, Santiago pitched his third straight quality start, which matches his total for all of 2016. His next start will be on Wednesday in Texas, normally an unattractive matchup, but the Rangers are struggling right now, ranking just 24th in the bigs in OPS.

The Wire Troll: Cesar Hernandez Keeps Raking for Phillies

Since the start of the 2016 season, Hernandez ranks third in walks (68) and BABIP (.363), seventh in OBP (.371) and tied for seventh in batting average (.295) among all qualifying second baseman in the majors. In fact, that BABIP ranks eighth among any qualifying player in the majors over that span, at that’s a concern that he’s due for a correction at some point. But for now, it’s full steam ahead as in his last seven games, Hernandez is hitting .370/.414/.519 with four RBI.

The Wire Troll: Sven Andrighetto Generating Avalanche of Offense

Called up from the minors midway through the season, Weal has scored eight goals in just 20 games, including goals in each of the last four games, all of them wins for the Flyers. The team has moved him to the second line, and he is now on the second power play unit, which explains why his TOI has gone from 10 to nearly 17 minutes a game over the past few games. Weal has really delivered for the Flyers, and for our money he may have worked his way onto the team’s must-protect list for the upcoming expansion draft.

The Wire Troll: Brayden Point Piling Up Points

In the last seven games, Point is living up to his name and then some by averaging over a point. Some recent highlights include a two-goal game, one of which came on the power play (that was also the game winner), in a road win over the Rangers. In the next game, Point scored a goal against Ottawa, then, after a two-assist performance, he had a goal and assist and was +2 in a big win in Boston. He kept the party going by setting up the overtime winner in Detroit. Point has moved to the top line, so with the Lightning making a run for the playoffs, he is someone to consider scooping up.

The Wire Troll: Michael Frolik Sparking Flame in Calgary

Bozak is another player that has has stepped up his game this month. He’s a streaky player in terms of +/-, going +2 in some games and then -4 in others, but he’s put up eight points in March, highlighted by a two-assist night against Detroit, and a goal and an assist in a victory over Philadelphia. Bozak does not shoot the puck much, but does average about 16 minutes of ice time.

The Wire Troll: Travis Zajac Heating up for Devils

The former first round pick has been a force over the last month, putting up points in six of his last eight games. Some of the highlights include a short-handed goal and two assists combined in a back-to-back against the Islanders. Zajac also enjoyed a power play goal in the following game against Ottawa, a two-assist effort versus the Rangers, and finally a power play goal and an assist against Montreal. It doesn’t matter what the situation on the ice has been, Zajac can be counted on for the power play, even strength and shorthanded, and it shows with ice time as he averages between 21-22 minutes.
