Dear RotoRob: Dealing with Injuries

February 4, 2010 | By RotoRob | comment on this post
Tony Allen is starting for the Boston Celtics with Paul Pierce out.
Don’t bother picking up Tony Allen (42) if you’re a Paul Pierce owner.

I recently lost Chris Paul to injury (picked up Darren Collison) and it now looks like Paul Pierce has gone down with a foot injury. My current roster options to replace him are Mike Conley or Raymond Felton. Or I can drop one of them (or perhaps Andris Biedrins as I also have Kendrick Perkins) to pick up Tony Allen, Pierce’s likely replacement. Should I stick with what I have or go after Allen? Pool categories are FG percentage, 3-pointers made, points, rebounds, steals, assists and blocks. Help!

Grant

Hey Grant,

Good score on Collison; I grabbed him in my league as well, and am already getting trade offers!

As for Pierce, his injury isn’t serious, so I wouldn’t panic. Forget about Allen; he’s a one or two-game solution and not a great one at that.

Assuming this is a daily lineup change league, I’d plug Felton in Wednesday, and then swap him with Conley after the game.

Pierce is a very quick healer; don’t sweat it.
