Video Game Review: Tom Clancy’s The Division 2

Shooting is a little more of an acquired taste. You’ll carry two primary weapons and a sidearm with unlimited rounds (ammo is plentiful for the main guns as well). No matter what gun you’re using, however, the recoil takes some getting used to as without adjustments you’ll be firing above your initial target after squeezing off a few rounds. It’s not as pronounced as the original, and your weapon’s stats make a real difference, but it’s something to be aware of.

To help you along the way, the game features a robust tutorial that walks you through everything from the simplest tasks to the most complex combos. In addition to the primary tutorial, each character has their own walkthrough in which you can see (and execute) all of their moves. Our only real complaint is that the demo feature isn’t as helpful as it should be. Most of the time things work fine, but there are some definite shortcomings. For starters, you don’t move very fast, and the sprint meter drains with incredible speed — that can become an issue when you’re on one side of the block and are expected to respond quickly on the opposite end. The mini game in which you search a car works poorly as well. Both issues can cause you to fail objectives through no fault of your own. That’s never a good thing.

As you progress you’ll unlock various special abilities, earned by pulling off uninterrupted strikes, that can allow for single-hit kills, an area of effect attack and healing. You’ll end up using the last one by far the most, since the game offers no other means of regaining lost health. Eventually you’ll unlock the ability to become a giant, which is pretty cool, though it happens late and there are few chances to use it.

Video Game Review: Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles

As an unnamed hero you end up shipwrecked on Gemea, an island inhabited by friendly folks and critters that are being intruded upon by a mysterious fog known as the murk. In the broadest sense, it’s your quest to discover the origin of the murk, learn how to eliminate it and then go about assembling and/or repairing the devices necessary to do so.
