The Wire Troll: Greg Garcia Providing Depth

All the injuries on the Dodger rotation have forced the team to be creative, and they have now turned to prospect De Leon to make his MLB debut on Sunday. Judging by his stellar work at Triple-A (7-1, 2.61 in 16 starts with 11.6 K/9), this kid is ready for the challenge. We love the fact that De Leon has improved his ERA with the move from Double-A to Triple-A, but it’s worth noting that his FIP numbers between those two levels are a lot closer. Still, his recall is a very Fantasy relevant event, so pounce while you can.

The Wire Troll: Korean Invasion

The Korean theme continues with Kim, who impressed many a week and a half ago with his four-hit showing against Houston. That’s earned him some extra PT of late, and with hits in three straight games, he’s now batting a robust .319 — a figure which we can no longer of good conscience ignore. This “rookie” (we still don’t follow that logic for international players that have played professionally elsewhere) simply knows how to hit. And last we checked, that has some value.

The Wire Troll: Chad Green Earns Rotation Time for Yanks

At this stage of the season, if you’re a keeper league owner that’s out it, you’re scouring the minors for possible options. Drafted by the Phillies in the ninth round out of college last year, Laird hit well in his pro debut in 2015, but injuries limited his action this season. However, he tore through Low-A and continues to rake at High-A, piling up plenty of runs at both stops. Laird is not young, so will need to move fast, but is worth tracking.

The Wire Troll: Kelly Johnson Earning More PT

We’ll always have Game Six of the 2011 World Series, right? Freese has never really lived up to the promise he showed early in his career with the Cards, but this season marks the closest he’s come. He’s batting .412 over the past week, enjoying what could be his finest month of the season (938 OPS). Overall, Freese is hitting much better this season, flashing his finest extra-base sock since 2012 in what’s shaping up as a pretty productive campaign. He would not look out of place in the corner infielder slot of a deep mixed league.

The Wire Troll: Scott Schebler Gets His Shot

Yes, we’ve been ringing Josh’s Bell for some time now and we still can’t understand why he’s being denied a longer look in the bigs. Sure, since his brief recall, he’s struggled somewhat at Triple-A, but with multi-hit efforts in two of the last three games, he’s showing signs of moving past that. We still believe Bell makes for a perfect stash given the ability to rack up counting cats he’s shown at Triple-A. His time will come… soon, hopefully.

The Wire Troll: Wade Miley Sent to B-More

Despite missing some time earlier this season, Martin has already topped double digits in both homers and steals. He’s not going to hit for a high average (and his BABIP is about normal for him, so don’t expect any relief there), but with a .325 wOBA, he’s enjoying his finest season yet and is certainly hitting much better this year than he did in his final campaign with Texas in 2015.

The Wire Troll: Dylan Bundy Finally Starting

Well, we’re finally getting our wish Sunday as Bundy will start — and get a very favourable matchup against the Rays, to boot. Taken fourth overall in 2011, the rookie hurler has a chance to stick in the rotation, at least for a time being. He’s only about 40 innings shy of the innings cap Baltimore has set on its prized prospect, so this is likely going to be a short-term pickup. But if you need pitching help with major upside, Bundy’s your man.
