Moreta had another strong outing on Friday (1 2/3 shutout frames), giving him eight scoreless games in his last nine tries. He’s already closing in on a career high in games pitched and has a nice record; other than a regression in his control, we’re really bullish on his upside.

Jones has hit safely in six straight games that he’s started, and has been productive enough to be worth a look in some mixed leagues. He was easily a top 150 outfielder heading into the season, and will soon also qualify at 1B (if he hasn’t already depending on your format).

Okay, so it was a rough start for the long-time Cub, but it was only natural for there to be plenty of rust. However, once Hendricks’ usually steady command returns, he’s going to pay dividends, so grab him now.

Armed with a clearer idea of Kiermaier’s potential career trajectory, we examined him closer, and would you look at that: suddenly he is performing at a career-best level, OPS wise, and is worth considering in AL-only leagues. Before taking an 0-fer on Monday, he had hit safely in seven straight games, and has hit extremely well in May (969 OPS) with speed (four steals).

The Cubs are loaded at outfield, so a trade could be coming this summer to give some of the youngsters a look, and given the power Velazquez has flashed, he really intrigues us as someone that could provide second-half value if he gets regular PT. He’s also got a pretty good arm, but with an uncertain role in the Show, he’s a gamble.
