Although most of the cast returns from the original, it’s Lily James of Downton Abbey fame that ends up standing out. As young Donna she exudes a fresh innocence of somebody looking to learn all they can about the world and have fun doing it.

Mark of the Ninja is designed around stealth. Your default movement speed is very deliberate, and your sword can only be used during assassinations triggered when your target is unaware or dazed. This is not a hack n’ slash where you face a half-dozen enemies at once or battle hand to hand. Your foes carry guns, your health is limited, and caution is of utmost importance.

Following the success of Fortnite and PUBG, Call of Duty makes its inaugural foray into the battle royale genre with Blackout. For the uninitiated, the basic concept is that up to 100 players are dropped into a large map, forced to scavenge for weapons and equipment and then fight until only one person is left standing.

At the end of each day you’ll earn beer tabs that act as currency to purchase new gear and hire additional officers. Successful arrests earn the most, but things can go sideways and you’ll be dinged for allowing criminals to escape or having an officer injured or killed in the line of duty. Interestingly, killing a criminal (even when it seems extreme) still lands on the plus side of the ledger.

One of the big items with WWE 2k19 is the return of the 2k Showcase after a two-year absence. You’ll follow the path of Daniel Bryan from his humble beginnings through his ascension to the WWE title and recent return to the ring. Each of the 11 matches is set up with a video package and remarks from Bryan, which is cool and provides some historical context to his journey.

Despite being condensed, the story is the focus here. You are Noctis, Prince of Lucis, arranged to marry Lunafreya for political reasons. After you and your friends Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus head out on a road trip your father is betrayed and the city of Insomnia laid to ruin. That leaves the burden of ruling to you.

Our least-favourite part of last year’s installment was the aimless, unskippable story attached to MyCareer. Things have improved markedly on that front in NBA 2k19 as you step into the shoes of A.I., beginning with him waiting on draft night and never getting the call. From there you end up in China, progress to the G League and so on.
