Bucky Irving still has major upside. (USATSI)
This week, Trevor Lawrence expressed excitement over Travis Hunter’s pending NFL debut; Justin Fields is struggling in camp, but no one seems worried; and the Rams have given back Kyren Williams a three-year, $33-million extension. Other Fantasy football stories we’re following include…
“Bucky” the Buccaneer
Despite enduring a four-game losing streak last season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished strong, winning six of the last seven games to earn their first double-digit victory effort since 2021 and make the playoffs for the fifth straight season while winning their fourth consecutive NFC South title.
Unfortunately, Tampa Bay was upset by Washington in the Wild Card game, but don’t blame running back Bucky Irving as he had a decent showing, gaining 77 yards on 17 carries while also hauling in two passes, one for a TD.
In doing so, he capped a very strong rookie season in which he topped 1,100 yards on the ground while adding nearly 400 more through the air. Irving continues to impress at camp and given his upside potential, he could provide solid value in the second round of your Fantasy draft even if he’ll be hard pressed to crack the top 10 at the position.
Tampa Bay views the dude who is actually named “Mar’Keise” as its RB1 capable of carrying a big load in both the run and pass attack.
Can King Henry Hit 2K Again?
The Baltimore Ravens took a slight step back last season, dropping to “just” 12 wins, and getting kicked out in the Divisional Round. This team needs to bring its regular season tenacity into the playoffs, and in an effort to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2012, another big season from primary running back Derrick Henry would sure help.
Since getting hurt in 2021, he’s been very durable and last season – his first in B-More – he laid to rest any doubts he was in decline. Henry was a workhorse (325 carries) and flirted with his second 2,000-yard campaign while setting a career high in YPR and falling just a TD shy of tying another personal best.
Small wonder that he has the second-best odds in the NFL to rush for 2,000 yards or more this season (+1100 as per FanDuel).
Henry gives the Ravens such a great weapon (and role model — see video below), especially in third and short situations (they led the league in converting such plays in 2024). He remains a top five RB for 2025, but don’t be surprised if he doesn’t appear in any preseason games as the Ravens will play it safe with their key stars this summer.
RotoRob Tune of the Day
British funk band Cymande was active from 1971 to 1974, reuniting briefly in 2006 and then again in 2012 and is still at it today. In 1972, they released their debut, eponymous album, which featured the deep album track “Getting It Back.”
