Dear RotoRob: The Lowdown on Luis

March 22, 2008 | By RotoRob | comment on this post

Dear RotoRob,

Re: NBA Daily Dose: Rocket Roll

The main reason Chuck Hayes ate into Luis Scola’s minutes was because Scola picked up two fouls in the first four minutes of the game. He didn’t get back in until late in the second quarter. Just a heads up.

James

Hey James,

Thanks for letting me know. Still, Coach Rick Adelman was very complimentary of Hayes’ performance that night, so it definitely seemed worth of a mention. By the way, you must be freakin’ stoked about your team! So impressive.

Dear RotoRob,

Great article, however, Al Horford isn’t exactly “losing steam.” Post All-Star break, he’s averaging 11.4 points, 9.1 boards, and 1.9 assists while shooting 52 per cent from the field and 85 per cent from the line. Yeah, his boards are down a little, but his points and percentages are up, and he gets a block and nearly a steal a game. That’s perfectly fine by me.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the note.

I was also looking at the fact that he was getting just 8.7 boards per game in March – good, but not up the standards he’s set. His scoring has been decent, but he still doesn’t get enough steals or blocks to compensate for that. Don’t get me wrong; Horford’s had a fine rookie season, but there’s probably a reason he’s winding up on some waiver wires. I’ve noticed him slipping in the past two weeks in terms of the percentage of leagues he’s owned in. That could be a big mistake, of course, but it was worth noting.
