Fantasy Notes: Westbrook Dominates Yanks

He’s been one of the only bright spots on the woeful Royals this season and his streak is the longest by any member of the team in 2006. DeJesus got his BA up to .331 with the run, and despite being held hitless Wednesday, did manage his 15th RBI of the year. I’d like to see more pop or speed before declaring him much more than a hollow .300 hitter, but the 26-year-old outfielder is definitely on the upswing and is starting to get scooped up in mixed leagues.

Fantasy Notes: Hard-luck Jamie Moyer

In his 17 starts, the club is just 8-9, thanks in great part to being shut out four times. In all, Seattle has been blanked nine times already — worst in the American League. Maybe the Mariners are trying to tell the old guy something. They might be telling their fans something, too. Seven of those shutouts have come at home (three when Moyer takes the mound). There’s an interesting marketing promotion in there somewhere, I’m sure. How about Mariners’ Goose Egg Day?

Talented, but Troubled

This is a guy that had 252 homers and 191 steals, a ROY award and a World Series title by the age of 28. The Hall of Fame beckoned down the road, as Strawberry was one of the best all-around players in the game. In time, he traded in his Pinstripes for an orange jumpsuit, and the only halls he graces these days tend to be adorned with bars.
