Steve Nash to Retire if Suns Win Title
If the Phoenix Suns win the NBA Championship this season, Steve Nash says he plans to pack it in.
‘The one thing I feel like I’m missing is a title,’ Nash said. ‘The back problems I’ve had recently have made me realize that health is fragile to an extent. And there’s so much I’d still like to do before my body breaks down.’
Nash is very active in community work with his foundations and basketball youth league, something he says he could see himself doing on a full-time basis. The two-time defending MVP said he’s interested in spending more time seeing other parts of the world as well.
‘I’d love to be able to spend more time with the girls,’ Nash said of his twin daughters, aged two and a half.
This is potentially awful news for keeper league owners who have likely built their team around Nash, who turns 34 in February.
He’s enjoying perhaps his finest NBA season, setting career bests in PPG and FG percentage while leading the league in assists.
