Hockey Hospital: Anders Lindback Long Gone

Alexander Steen has added to the injury woes of the St. Louis Blues.

We’ve got more injury news coming your way in this week’s edition of Hockey Hospital.

Alexander Steen, LW, St. Louis Blues: Steen will be out of action for at least a month with an upper-body injury.

And just when the Blues get Jaden Schwartz back, Steen goes and gets himself injured. Can the Blues ever ice a healthy lineup? Anyway, Steen’s injury definitely weakens the Blues forward group and puts a lot more pressure on Vladimir Tarasenko and Schwartz. Steen’s injury should hurt most of the Blues forwards because losing a key contributor like him (who’s capable of scoring goals like the one in the video below) will make it much more difficult to put pucks in the net.

St. Louis could use another scorer, so keep an eye on that at the trade deadline next week.

James van Riemsdyk, LW, Toronto Maple Leafs: JVR (broken foot) was originally only expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, but it has now been revealed that it might take him longer to recover.

Van Riemsdyk is one of the best forwards on the Leafs and his delayed return doesn’t improve Toronto’s current forward situation. Beyond Nazem Kadri and Leo Komarov, the Leafs don’t have many top forwards, making it very difficult for them to score. The fact that JVR is currently out also hurts Toronto given that he’d have nice trade value; Chicago is rumoured to be interested.

Rick Nash, LW, New York Rangers: Nash’s status is still up in the air and he was unable to practice with the Rangers at their most recent practice. The fact that New York has played so well recently without him and several other key players is reason for optimism on Broadway.

Tommy Wingels, C, San Jose Sharks: Wingels (upper body) will be “out for the near future”, according to Sharks Coach Peter Deboer. Wingels has been placed on the IR, although the good news this isn’t a long-term issue.

Shea Weber, D, Nashville Predators: Weber missed Tuesday’s game with a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day. The native of hockey hot bed Sicamous, B.C. has already matched his goal total from all of 2014-15.

Ryan McDonagh, D, New York Rangers: McDonagh does not have a concussion (it’s a bruised jaw) and hopes to return either Thursday (likely) or definitely by Saturday.

Michael Del Zotto, D, Philadelphia: Del Zotto will miss 3-4 months (so the rest of the season) after undergoing ligament repair surgery.

While Del Zotto’s injury does weaken the Flyer’s defensive depth, his injury isn’t a major loss. Del Zotto was having an okay season, managing 13 points in 52 games but a far cry from the 32 points he scored last season. His absence should help Shayne Gostisbehere, though. While Ghosty has been insanely hot, he is bound to slow down eventually. With Del Zotto out of the picture, there is less of a threat of The Ghost losing valuable power play time if he starts to slump.

Tom Gilbert, D, Montreal Canadiens: Gilbert will miss the rest of the season after he had surgery to repair his left knee.

Anders Lindback, G, Arizona Coyotes: Lindback will miss the rest of the season after he had surgery on his Achilles’ tendon.

While Lindback doesn’t hold much Fantasy value, his injury ensures the Louis Domingue gets to stay up with the big club. While Domingue has been faltering a bit lately, he provided great goaltending when he was first called up and can provide decent Fantasy value. Before Lindback got hurt, there was a chance that Domingue would be sent back down to the minors since Mike Smith will be returning soon.

However, since Lindback isn’t likely to hit the ice again this season, Domingue should maintain a spot with the Coyotes, whether it be a backup role or the starting job. Lindback, by the way, really blew a chance to establish himself in the wake of Smith’s injury.

Now it’s your turn. Let us know in the comments below what Fantasy hockey injuries you’re dealing with and how you’re adjusting.

Anders Lindback 2015-16 Outlook

However, his save percentage plummeted when he went to Tampa. In Lindback’s first season, he had a .902 save percentage with a 2.90 GAA, and in his second season, he had a .891 save percentage with a 2.90 GAA. Last season he topped .905 save percentage for the first time since he was on the Predators. However, at the start of last season when Lindback was on the Stars, he had a .875 save percentage with a 3.71 GAA. It wasn’t until he was traded to Buffalo when he started to post good numbers.
