However, he started flashing a little something-something last week, but inconsistencies are to be expected from such a young player (19). Still, we love the amount of touches he’s getting lately and once he starts finding his range, the scoring potential here is tremendous. Beal will be frustrating to own while he figures it out, but we’re convinced he’ll be a serious force by season’s end.

So what happens? Desmond experiences a major breakthrough and winds up as the only regular shortstop in the majors to slug at least .500. He still can’t draw a walk, but that didn’t stop him from finally hitting for average (over .290). Oh, and as expected, Desmond topped 20 steals.

The problem is Wells is still owed $21 million for each of the next two seasons, which is going to make it hard for the Halos to rid themselves of that deal. But make no mistake, they need to try to do so for payroll flexibility purposes. In two seasons in Anaheim, Wells has compiled 36 homers, 95 RBI and a .221 BA.

Given all of the different controls, there probably is a way to create a more refined solution — using the face button to fire does feel a little outdated but it’s not something that necessarily brings the game down as long as you give yourself time to adjust. Fortunately, the first game presents a bit of a ramp-up learning curve to get used to this, along with an interactive (and somewhat redundant) tutorial. The second game, though, is a little more feet-to-the-fire in its approach, at least in terms of difficulty.

Hamilton has wings and the attitude to go along with it. Two plays that caught my attention worth mentioning was a fake steal of home where he went from 0-to-80 km/h in a blink of an eye and just as quickly hit the brakes. The poor pitcher is still wondering what happened and a change in underwear between innings had to be part of the program. The second thing that caught my attention was with a runner on first, Hamilton took a walk. It was the perfect opportunity to swing away and be a bit selfish but he did the right thing. He’s one injury away from getting a promotion next season and for Fantasy purposes he will be a dominant force in the stolen base category.
