MLB Notes: Will Texas Open a Spot for Jurickson Profar?

The southpaw immediately rewarded their confidence by looking like a Cy Young candidate in August. He hasn’t been nearly as effective this month, but he’s still been decent. Overall, he’s been the best Phillies’ starter this season, which tells you as much about how good he’s been as it does about Philly’s season. The fact is, Hamels’ control hasn’t been as sharp as last year and the bottom line numbers have been slightly weaker as a result. He’ll need to be at his absolute best Tuesday if the Phillies are going to stay alive in the playoff race.

Video Game Review: Tekken Tag Tournament 2

While it may sound like only a marginal expansion, the tag mechanic actually adds quite a bit of new strategy, particularly because you can do tag combos based on timing. The regenerating health also leads to new ways of approaching when you want to use certain characters; in addition, your attack strategy has to change on the fly based on who your opponents are. When you combine both of those new factors, it’s possible to turn a near-death match on its head with a simple well-timed tag.

Video Game Review: Jet Set Radio

This game has you controlling a crew of rebellious graffiti artists known as “rudies” with the sole purpose of tagging up the streets to express disdain against global corporations (probably). Gliding around on jet skates, you can roll, jump and grind just about anywhere within the confines of each stage’s map. If there’s a pole, fence, staircase or almost any surface with a hard edge, simply press the jump button, aim your character to the desired surface and they’ll be shredding the distance the moment they land. While grinding, you can jump from surface to surface to build momentum and speed as well as stack up points. Pressing the right trigger in short bursts will give an extra boost of speed and trick out your jumps and grinds with style.

MLB Today: Roy Halladay Gets Pounded

The Braves gave him a serious beatdown in what proved to be Halladay’s second shortest start ever (1 2/3 IP) in 376 career starts and his shortest ever that didn’t involve coming out early because of injury. It was an absolutely awful time for Doc to turn in a stinker as the loss dropped Philly four back in the Wild Card race with just 10 games remaining after – against all reason – the team had clawed its way back into postseason contention with four straight wins and a 12-3 run over the last 15 games.

Video Game Review: LittleBigPlanet Vita

In a world built upon imagination the sky is the limit, and in the tradition of previous games in the series, Sackboy’s inaugural Vita adventure is cleverly done. Each of the story’s levels has a unique yet still consistent style with bright colours that hold up well on the OLED screen — it’s not as crisp as what we’ve seen on the PS3, but the reduced size seems to suit the source material better.

Podcast: The Tainted Batting Race

This week we had rare footage on RotoRob’s Fantasy Baseball Weekly Podcast, heard every Thursday at 9 p.m. EST on Blogtalkradio. Not only was everyone on time, but there were not any technical snafus, and no one was grumpy! Okay, perhaps we got sidetracked a bit early on with a tour of Cincy’s pork products, but we managed to more or less stay focused on baseball and even almost get through our entire lineup.

2012-13 RotoRob NBA Draft Kit: Top 10 Rookies

Davis has great athleticism and leaping ability that gives him the strength to finish under the bucket with other bigs on top of him. He can provide value as a starter for the Hornets and possibly lead the team in rebounds this season, but he will need to improve his decent mid-ranged jump shot. We believe Davis’ on-court maturity will be greater than the average rookie, but he will face struggles at first until he settles into a groove at this professional level.
