A Flair for the Dramatic

September 17, 2007 | By RotoRob | comment on this post
Jim Thome hit his 500th homer in dramatic fashion.
Jim Thome is the 23rd player in MLB history with 500 homers.

Tie game, bottom of the ninth. Damn, it’s even your bobblehead doll day. What a perfect time for Jim Thome to snap his mini slump and make history with his 500th career home run. In today’s Daily Dose, we marvel at the exploits of one of the game’s truly good guys.

Barry Bonds will miss around a week, giving Nate Schierholtz a chance to show us more; Josh Beckett finally stepped up large against the Yankees; Prince Fielder is the Brewers’ new home run king; Todd Jones hit 300 saves and then offered up a classic one-liner; and Cubs’ closer Ryan Dempster seems to have save his job — for now.

What do you wish for? I mean, besides all the great fantasy baseball nuggets you’ll find in the Dose, of course.
