Dear RotoRob: Cut the Truth?

April 9, 2007 | By James Morris | comment on this post
Detroit Pistons centre Chris Webber could be a good addition if he's on your waiver wire.
Is Chris Webber a better bet than either Paul Pierce or Tyrus Thomas?

Dear RotoRob.com,

I’m in the semifinals of the playoffs and am debating whether to cut Paul Pierce and/or Tyrus Thomas.’

Some of the available players on the waiver wire are: Chris Webber, Brad Miller, J.R. Smith, Gerald Green, Chuck Hayes, Jason Hart, Outlaw/Jamaal Magloire and Chris Kaman.

I’m in a daily league; think any of those guys are worth swapping in?

Thanks!

Dean

Dean,

Doc Rivers says he still figures Pierce will be back before the season ends – even as soon as Tuesday night. See if he plays Tuesday. If he does, keep him. If he doesn’t, drop him and grab either Webber or Green.

Dear RotoRob.com,

I am in need of better FT percentage and FG percentage while trying to improve my blocks and rebounds as well.

My current crew:

G — Josh Smith, Kobe Bryant, Stephon Marbury, Deron Williams
F — David Lee, AK-47, Boris Diaw, David West
C — Drew Gooden, Erick Dampier
Res — Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Brad Miller

I have to make a pickup for Lee. Who should I scoop up for the rest of the season?

F Tyrus Thomas (not starting and Andres Nocioni is coming back), or F/C Etan Thomas (finally got his starting gig back).

Please hit me with the wisdom.

Thanks.

MiNt

Mint,

The decision is fairly obvious — one is starting and the other is either hot or cold…and he is cold more than hot. I don’t think either is great to start, but I’d pick up Etan for a playoff run.
