Fantasy Notes: Nick the Stick
- No one is going to be wowed by that .255 BA (although it is a career best), but Nick Swisher has still enjoyed a breakthrough season. With back-to-back two-run games, he now has 104 runs, and his 34th homer and 91st RBI yesterday keyed a four-run second that helped the A’s clinch the West. Swisher has turned into a very productive fantasy player with an 865 OPS, so expect him to be a Top 25 outfielder next season.
- Chone Figgins has had a disappointing season with the Angels, and it might be his last. He’s a super utility player in search of an everday defensive home, and the White Sox, word has it, would love to land him as their starting centre fielder for next year. Figgins needs a lot of work on his on-base skills before he can become a geniuine lead-off star. The Angels already figured that out, shifting him to the bottom of the order recently.
