The Jose Vidro acquisition was among the more panned moves of the offseason, but so far, he’s been hitting very well. Although he’s not exactly driving in runs by the boatload (even though he’s batting third), Vidro is up to .316 thanks to an 11-game hit streak and he’s getting on base. He’s still nowhere near as good as he was with he was when he was stationed in Montreal, but at the age of 32, the switch hitting Vidro is at least showing that he can still be somewhat productive. Now that Beltre is heating up, Vidro should start delivering more RBI as well. A word of caution, however: over the last three years, Vidro is a .296 hitter before the break, but he’s hit 24 points lower in the second half.
